Chapter 162 - 162 Chapter 162: A Grumpy Fox

“Haaah!”

“On the right, Brenda,” Apricot yelled out in warning.

“They are getting better,” I muttered, resting my head on Kaydas’ shoulder, looking over the crazy squad fight.

“Still needs a lot of work to be a proper black ops unit,” Kaydas said, disappointedly sighing.

“True that,” I said, seeing Apricot run into Brenda screwing her balance.

“sigh, they are so unorganized.”

.....

“I guess the mock battle is doing its work at pointing out their flaws.”

“but the other side is getting full of themselves,” Kayda said, pointing at the opposing side’s leader lounging in his chair at the back of the battle.

“Well, it is 23 against 7. He thinks this is just a waste of time.” I said, looking at his relaxed posture.

“It is a waste of time for my squad, yes.” A man in a black suit said, approaching me and Kayda.

“You are?” I asked, looking up at him.

He was quite the big man being taller than me. He had short black hair big head fitting with his bulky body. I saw no weapons on, but I knew he had them. Knowing how Stacy made the black ops and all looks is always deceiving.

“Good morning, miss Kayda Lady Kitsuna. My name is Special Major Tony Sanderson. Nice to meet you.” Tony said, holding his hand out towards me.

“oh, special major, so they are your squad? Oh, and don’t call me lady again.” I said, shaking his hand.

“Will do, miss.” The man said, nodding.

“Tony, what are you doing here?” Kayda asks, looking at him.

“Well, you are the head general right now, so who else must I bring reports to?” Tony said, tilting his head at Kayda.

“hmm, did they find anything new?” Kayda asked, ignoring his behaviour.

“No, ma’am, we only found that the dust of the corpses is made of black organic matter,” Tony explained, making both Kayda and me sigh in frustration.

“Black organic matter? Sigh, that doesn’t give us shit.” I said, grunting.

“Well, has the forest calmed down?” Kayda asked.

“Somewhat, Ma’am, just a normal territorial war started seeing as 35 towns got destroyed,” Tony explained, looking at a small piece of paper in his hand.

‘sheesh, that many.’

“sigh, what about the new monster in the forest?” Kayda asked, shaking her head.

“We found out it is in some cave dungeon, but it seems to have not moved since coming to the forest,” Toney said, shrugging.

“so it’s not a danger?” I said with a raised eyebrow.

“It is not, ma’am,” Tony said, nodding in agreement.

“Great, just tell all the special agents to look at the war from afar, and if a stronger monster than what is allowed is in the area, neutralize it,” Kayda ordered firmly.

“will do, ma’am,” Toney said, nodding at the order.

“Oh, but do you guys know what sort of monster this new one is?” I asked innocently nicely, trying to be.

“Not at the moment.”

“And that will have to stay that way until the monster makes it move on its own,” Kayda added, getting a nod from both of us in understanding.

‘no need to risk lives for nothing.’ I thought, looking back at the mock battle going on.

“One other thing, ma’am, we found the blacksmith.”

“oh, who is he,” Kayda asked with a raised eyebrow.

“We don’t know much about him personally, but we know his family has been in the city for 45 years,” Tony explained, giving kayda a piece of paper.

“that’s quite long. Hmm, is it the federation’s long game?” Kayda said, humming at the thought.

“I don’t think so, ma’am. I suspect that he was desperate.” Toney explained.

“Why?” I asked, intrigued.

“It’s just that blacksmiths haven’t been doing that good these days. Oh well, before the influx of enemies on the outskirt of the forest.” Tony explained, making me nod in understanding.

“So before all the adventures came?” I added, nodding.

“yes.”

“but they aren’t allowed into the forest, right?” I said, tilting my head at him, confused.

“They are if the right procedure is followed by the quest giver or the party leader himself like you did when we went in. Thank you, Tony. If there is anything more, please let me know.” Kayda explained.

“Will do, ma’am,” Toney said, nodding.

“Oh, one more thing put all this in writing and send it to me. I will make a bigger report for The supreme general.” Kayda said with a slight smirk.

“sigh will do, ma’am,” Tony said, sighing and walking away.

“I love it when you get so serious about your job. It’s quite hot.” I said, waiting to make sure Tony wasn’t in earshot, grinning at her

“W-what?” Kayda stuttered, blushing.

“Hehe, you’re so cute, you know that,” I said, wrapping my arms around her from behind.

“Kitsu, not now,” Kayda said, trying to push me away.

“Winners are the Elite.”

“Oh, they lost,” I said, not surprised at all.

“well, they at least took out half of them better than the first time.”

“first time?”

“They took out two.”

“wow, so from two to 11? Many people say they did well, but they didn’t take this seriously at all, the elites. Dumb name, by the way.” I said, humming in disappointment.

“yes, and they know that, so no need to push them on it, okay,” Kayda said, looking at me with narrowed eyes.

“I wasn’t going to talk to them, to begin with,” I said, waving her off.

“Sigh, I don’t think you understand what tuff love is,” Kayda said, sighing.

“probably not. Anyways you want to go to that blacksmith?”

“Hmm, I am quite well known, so you go alone for today. We will go both tomorrows,” Kayda said thoughtfully, giving me the piece of paper Tony gave her to me.

“... ah, you sure you want me to do this alone?”

“What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy you actually have something else other than training to do?” Kayda said, smiling at me knowingly.

“But I actually like training,” I said, scratching my cheek.

“But you are already in the final stages of your invisible mana.”

“That is true. The fights we had in the forest did wonders for that.”

‘I can cut through Adamite now though it takes way too much mana to do. I will go to Steve in the next few days to finish my challenge with him.’ I thought, sighing mentally.

“So, go and explore this guy’s shop,” Kayda said, pointing at the paper.

“Alright, I will go do that. Good luck with the depressed kids.” I said jokingly, looking at the crazy squad walking closer to us slowly.

“Thanks,” Kayda said, nodding and walking to them.

“Well, let’s see. Grumpy Shaman? What? Is Tony joking or something.” I grumbled, annoyed seeing the fucking name. Looking at the address this guy was at, I sighed, putting the paper in my storage.

[45 minutes later]

“Grumpy Shaman, what the fuck is that name,” I muttered, still not over the name of the guy I was looking for.

Lucky for me, I already knew where the guy was or, well, the area he was in.

Walking down the road, I turned into a tiger demi-human with dark green fur wanting to stand out to get as many eyes after me as possible. It might be a bad thing in most things, but having proper clothes and being a rare race will get me looks that don’t want to get close to me. Especially in the area I am in right now.

I, of course, had multiple weapons on my waist.

“I know what Tony said about him being desperate, but I don’t think that’s all there is two it.”

.....

“Hello, oh fine lady, what might you be doing in the slums.”

“Hmm, you,” I said, looking the guy in the eyes, making him a stuttering mess.

“Y-Yes?” The man stuttered with shaking legs.

“Tell me where the grumpy shaman Smithy is,” I said, tapping the katana on my waist.

“He is right there, ma’am.” The man said, pointing to the front of a big building.

“Right next time, don’t just walk up to armed people, okay,” I said, tapping his neck and knocking him out. Looking at the building again, I narrowed my eyes at the roof. Seeing the amount of smoke coming out, I understood this was actually what I was looking for.

“Oh, a customer this early?” A woman said happily, looking at me only to narrow her eyes at me suspiciously.

‘Hmm, I guess I am not dressed for the occasion.’ I thought seeing the receptionist was wearing rags like everyone else in the slums.
