Chapter 32
One had to understand that while there were machines, knitting with her hands to make three different dresses for her was quite a feat and she wondered why she had never paid attention to this her mother’s skill in the past.
“Mother, how did you make all these in the hours I was in school?” She asked curiously, as she walked into the kitchen, the aroma of lunch calling to her.
“I thought you would stay back in school since you aren’t working anymore. I only made dinner.” Seeing that she was hungry, Rong Xia hurriedly explained and left the piece she was working on to join her in the kitchen.
“Go and wash up, I’ll make some noodles for you to eat until it’s time for dinner.” If they ate the dinner they were supposed to warm up now, they would still get hungry later in the day. It was better to make some quick meal for her now.
“Hmmm, okay.” Rong Yue agreed and went to her room to change and clean up.
As soon as she was done, she carried the bag that had all the things she had bought earlier today.
The speed of the current computers were going to be too slow for her to adapt with. For someone that wanted to go full mode into the technology industry majorly. She didn’t want to use the current speed and so she decided to getting some parts that would allow her to modify the laptop up until it was at a suitable speed.
After that, she could consider how she would build something she could sell for people.
.....
She carefully arranged everything on her study desk before going to get the tools she had brought back from Auntie Su’s store.
“Okay, this is all I need for now.” She murmured to herself before going back outside to meet her mother.
Although they were like close friends or maybe sisters, Rong Xia was someone that liked to give her daughter privacy, like previously, she never asked how much Rong Yue was making and just accepted anything Rong Yue gave her after she made sure she met Auntie Su and when her daughter said she had to go a lesser school, despite how she wanted the best for her child, she said nothing and just agreed.
While to some families, that would be detrimental, for someone that knew that her daughter wasn’t one to mess around, it was a system that worked for the both of them well.
“Ahhh, so fragrant.” Rong Yue praised as she sat in front of the piping hot bowl of noodles, her mouth watering before even having a bite.
“It’s still so hot, wait for it cool down a little.” Her mother advised as her brows furrowed slightly.
Rong Yue shook her head sideways and immediately took her chopsticks and started to eat. Even when she saw that it would burn her tongue, she only blew on it a little and immediately gobbled it down.
“You don’t know how hungry this daughter of yours is.” She said exaggeratedly when she finished her meal.
Instead of going back to her room immediately, she sat there and talked with her mom for a while and also used that opportunity to check out the styles that her mother had made for her.
“Mother, how did you get the inspiration? These styles are so beautiful.” She commented. Her eyes shining brightly.
Even as at ten years ago when crotchet was already gaining slight ground in the fashion industry, knitting was not yet there after all, it was more arduous and wasn’t easy for young people to start it all on their own.
“I just felt it would suit your figure well, you can take them with you to college, if you like it, I can also make some more in different styles.” She replied as she watched Rong Yue strip and wear one of the dresses.
Unlike the normal sizes for dresses, she had made this one a size smaller so that it could achieve the same snug effect a normal dress.
With Rong Xia’s figure that was deserving of being a top model, the dress looked absolutely stunning.
The room she had chosen had no mirror so Rong Yue went to her mother’s room to take a look at the dress.
Not only was the style trendy and beautiful, the fitting was more than perfect.
Her mind was reeling with so much ideas for this skill her mom had alongside her admiration for her dress.
“You have done enough today, you shouldn’t hurt your fingers also.” She consoled her mother as she took the two pins from her and then massaged her fingers for a while.
Although it was difficult to convince her mother that was intent on making something nice for her daughter, she was finally able to make her sit in front of the television while she went inside.
The moment she entered her room, she tied her hair up in a ponytail as she immediately got into her work mode.
From taking apart the new laptop to fixing the new one, everything that ought to have taken her about a day or more since she had to do several compatibility testing only took her about two hours.
“Let’s see if it worked.” Rong Yue muttered to herself, grinning as she put on the computer.
Normally, the original system would have taken about close to seven minutes of start up time, but the modified one lit up immediately and completed the start up process in less than two minutes.
“Ahh, two minutes? That’s too slow.” She grumbled as she started the setting up of the computer.
Back in the laboratory, they had to do modifications for thousands of laptops in less than two hours and those systems needed to have achieved a start up time of seconds and nothing like minutes.
But this wasn’t because of her and her skills and was more of the materials available in the time. To be able to even achieve this speed was already impressive.
Even though she had lots of work that she wanted to do, the first thing she did was download some softwares and when she was sure she had all that she need, she imputed Tong Yang’s phone details and then a blank screen appeared on her laptop.
Without thinking, her fingers ran across the keyboard as series of code appeared on the screen simultaneously.
If there was anyone that knew just anything about coding and how to operate on the keyboard near her at this moment, they would have been stunned silly.
Such speed!
Before long, different pages came on the screen and she navigated through them.
In mere minutes, she had hacked into Tong Yang’s phone.
She immediately copied all the important messages that were needed and logged out immediately.
On the other end, Tong Yang took her phone to check the time and saw that it wasn’t coming on. She was about to show some guy when the phone’s screen came back on all by itself.
“Ohh! It’s no problem, I have solved it already.” She murmured and then went back to pressing her phone.
On the other hand, Rong Yue’s brows furrowed when she saw the almost empty conversation between Tong Yang and someone.
Clearly, this person had assisted her with the whole school belle thing and she hadn’t thought to delete the chats. So where were the remaining messages then?
Her hands started moving again as she tried to see if there was some previously deleted messages, after checking and finding nothing, she closed the tab.
It would be easy to find the person by observing Tong Yang in school. Also, she noted the identity of the girl that had her identity snatched. It was easier to find who the person was from the victim.
When she was done with figuring out Tong Yang’s part, she saved the pictures and messages she had kept in an encrypted folder and then moved to check her mail.
She had used an incognito mail to apply for several work in the coding and hacking world and even though she had yet to meet the one she wanted, she already had some waiting that could help her get some more money.
To her now, she felt like she was on a race for time. Although she had gotten her life back and things even seemed like they were working in her favor, she felt like she had a lot more responsibility than that.
She had to make enough to be a force to reckon with. She also needed to start some technology before the organization could so that the government and wealthy men’s power backing they had would not be for them solely.
With a goal like that, she was even tempted to abandon her normal life and just pursue business but ended up deciding to find a balance.
It would be too sad if in the second chance she had, she still didn’t get to enjoy life, she didn’t doubt that she would be sad if she finally got her mission solved but couldn’t find anything else to hold onto by then.
With those thoughts running through her mind, she sieved the replies she had gotten carefully using the difficulty level to pay range as a determinant until she had a total of work that ranged to about $350,000.
“Seems like my painting seems to earn me more.” She said with a sigh as she promised herself to get more painting materials when she was coming back the next day.
