Chapter 280 - Feud
Chapter 280 - Feud
"Let’s just put it away and use a different one. You’re pregnant so you can’t eat heavy foods yet. I’ll make it lighter." Lu Chen mumbled while he put down the small bottle on the side.
Xiu Mei glanced at that pale looking soup boiling on the pot and felt so heartbroken seeing it almost transparent. Her inner chef is itching to pour in a bunch of chilis in there.
It looks so unappetizing right now ah.
"Let’s add just a little." She commented while moving.
Xiu Mei reached over and was about to grab that small bottle when Lu Chen grabbed her by the wrist and firmly scolded her back.
"Wife, you really can’t eat that."
His other hand grabbed the small bottle and quickly put it away at the highest part of the overheard cabinet.
Xiu Mei pouted with her puffed cheeks and glared at the annoying chef. She didn’t retort like usual and angrily turned her back at him and crossed her arms.
"Then eat it yourself." She grumbled under her breath but Lu Chen clearly heard what she said.
He stopped himself from laughing and found her wife’s moodswings so adorable. After making sure that the boiling soup was okay, he hugged her from behind and placed his hand on her still flat stomach.
"I know you don’t really like light flavored foods but you really can’t eat it right now ah." He rubbed his hand on her stomach to remind her, "We have this little one here who is still restricted from eating heavy flavored foods." He tried coaxing her.
"But I ate just fine these past few days. Why am I suddenly not allowed to eat flavorful foods right now?" Xiu Mei complained. After rethinking her words again, she quickly realized how selfish she sounded and shook her head to take back what she said.
Actually, the moment they learned that she was pregnant, the chef had been cooking light flavored dishes for her. Everything tasted so perfect that she might have not really noticed that her meal plan was switched into something lighter.
Then when she flew to Shenzhen, she subconsciously craved for heavy flavored dishes that’s what she has been eating for the past few days.
She realized how careless she was for forgetting about the baby in her stomach that she was too engrossed in satisfying her cravings for heavy dishes.
"Nevermind. I’ll.... remember next time." She gave in and added, "I’m sorry for getting mad at you so suddenly."
Damn this moodswings. Why was she getting angry over something trivial like this ah?
She turned to face him and hugged him tightly. Lu Chen’s hand brushed her hair and softly coaxed her.
"You don’t need to apologize when it’s between us, alright?" Lu Chen soothed her back while Xiu Mei tried to get a grip of her emotions again.
While the two a.d.u.l.ts were being so lovey dovey in the kitchen, their only son were still stunned in shock as he stood by the top of stairs.
Lu Qiang was watching his parents with wide eyes while listening in on their conversation.
What did his father just say....??
....Mommy’s pregnant?!
His genius brain crashed momentarily as the words barely registered in his mind. A barrage of questions suddenly appeared as he couldn’t absorb the currently reality before him at the moment.
His mommy is pregnant?
Wait, his father also knows it?!
Why didn’t he know about it?!
Why didn’t he notice the clues that his mommy is pregnant ah?!
Wait, when he jumped to hug his mommy before she left for her business trip, he didn’t hit her tummy right?
Should he rebuild all their appliances to lessen the radiation?
Ah! He should compile some songs that the baby could listen to, right?!
Wait.... why didn’t his parents tell him about it?
He was still frozen in his place when Lu Qiang heard his name being called.
"Qiang qiang? Baby, you’re awake?" Xiu Mei was surprised when she raised her head and peeked to the second floor from where she was standing and saw their son standing like a statue.
Oh my god, how long have he been standing there?
The couple glanced at each other. Did he hear their conversation?
Xiu Mei wasn’t sure if their son heard their conversation and worried with how he would react, she immediately nudged Lu Chen with her elbow.
Lu Chen looked at his wife. "What?"
With her head, she signalled him to go to Lu Qiang. "You’re the one who wanted to keep it secret, so you go explain if he suddenly asks about it ah."
She immediately pushed all the blame to her childish husband. No matter if Lu Qiang heard them or not, her husband can handle it well. If he really heard it..... then it would be really very interesting to watch how the father and son will react.
Lu Chen couldn’t refute from his wife’s words and sighed. After making sure that the chili bottle were high enough that Xiu Mei couldn’t reach for it, he untied the apron he was wearing and left the kitchen.
He raised his head and spoke to his son who was still at standing silly at the top of the stairs, "Come down."
From the looks of it, Lu Chen knew that Lu Qiang heard their entire conversation about Xiu Mei being pregnant. His son spectacularly kept composed and smoothyl climbed down the stairs before stopping in front of him.
The little and big ice cub stood face to face at the foot the stairs while the queen of the house were merrily watching the two from the kitchen.
Aiyo, the clear glass half wall divider is really cool ah.
"Did you have a good sleep?" Lu Chen started.
"Pretty much." Lu Qiang blandly responded.
"Oh."
"...."
"...."
Xiu Mei, the only audience: "....." that’s it? Her little baby probably didn’t hear them then?
Lu Chen raised his eyebrow, wondering why he wasn’t asking anything. Well, since he didn’t seem to be planning on asking then he won’t bring it up either.
"Then let’s go have our lunch. You scoop the rice."
"Okay."
Then the two ice cubes walked back to the kitchen.
Xiu Mei: "....." he really didn’t?
Xiu Mei transferred the stew and other side dishes on the bowls while Lu Chen was reponsible in setting up the table and bringing the already filled bowls. Lu Qiang scooped the rice and placed it down on the table.
Xiu Mei was convinced that Lu Qiang didn’t hear their conversation after seeing his reaction. But as soon as she sat on the table, she finally noticed something wrong.
Xiu Mei glanced at Lu Chen’s barely filled rice bowl, "....."
Even Lu Chen had the same reaction when he saw his almost empty bowl. He could probably only eat two or three spoonful of rice then it’s empty.
The two a.d.u.l.ts glanced at the little guy who was staring at his father with a blank gaze.
"Dad, Dr.Tang recommended that you hold back from eating carbohydrates from now on."
"....."
"....."
Tang Li who was suddenly in the implicated at the family feud suddenly sneezed.
"Oh, did he?" He questioned.
"He did. Why don’t you try calling him?" Lu Qiang nonchalantly replied as if he wasn’t throwing a pot at the innocent family doctor.
Lu Chen pondered for a moment then made his attack.
"Si Tu Yi said you need more physical training. Why don’t we schedule 2 hour trainings during weekdays then another five hour trainings during the weekend?" Lu Chen sounded so casual when he laid out his attack.
Xiu Mei was still quietly listening at the war unfolding in front of her, at a loss on why were they suddenly fighting like this.
Lu Qiang didn’t get fazed and continued.
"Dad, I remembered you said you need me to fix your company laptop the other day? Oh and the servers too. I’ll take care of it tonight and finish as early as possible."
"You also need classes for manners. Maybe I should hire a different teacher for that? No, I think I should do it instead. What do you think? It’ll be strict but I’m pretty sure you can do it."
"....."
The gunpowder between the two are so strong ah. They’re acting like they’re not father and son. They were arguing without shedding blood and they are not even getting faced with what they’re saying to each other.
Xiu Mei couldn’t ignore it anymore and quickly stopped the two before it takes a turn for the worse.
"Ehem!" She cleared her throat loudly, making the two ice cubes turn to her direction at the same time and react swiftly.
"Wife, here’s your water." A tall glass appeared before her.
"Mom, here’s an apple juice. Please drink." A little hand pushed another glass towards her.
"..."
