Chapter 229 - The Erased Memory
Chapter 229 - The Erased Memory
Damn it!
Zhu Lin really dared to do something to her!!
Her vision turned slightly blurry as dizziness tide over her. As she felt her body slowly turning weak, her memory of being kidnapped in the elevator flashed in her mind.
She opened her mouth planning to scream and call for help but no sound came out of her throat.
Not knowing where she got the strength from, Xiu Mei pushed Zhu Lin’s approaching figure as she staggered backward attempting to run away from him.
"Don’t fight anymore, Mei’er. It’s no use." He sneered as he grabbed her by her arm and pushed her towards the comfort room.
He pushed her into one of the walls while his hand started touching her inappropriately.
Luckily, the spray wasn’t enough to knock her out that fast.
Seeing a shadow in her peripheral view, she did her best struggling to walk fast towards that person.
Come on! This was the military hospital. Even though it’s big and there weren’t many visitors to this place, it can’t be possible that there’s really no one around the area, right?
She did a turn and didn’t see any shadow of that person anymore.
Grasping for breath, she almost cursed.
Why is there no one?! Was she just imagining things?!
Xiu Mei noticed that she was already near the elevator and immediately walked over there albeit a bit slower than before. Her energy was depleting at a lightning speed.
She desperately pressed the button and immediately entered the lift as soon as it opened. As soon as she pressed the close button, she saw Zhu Lin’s figure making a turn towards where she was but he wasn’t able to catch up to her as the elevator doors already closed. She didn’t see which floor number she pressed but as soon as the elevator doors opened, she quickly got out, almost leaning on the wall to support her weight as she felt her legs growing soft.
With no strength left, she slid down the wall almost crouching to the floor.
Before she lost consciousness, she saw something white going over her.
"Princess?!"
She reached for that person’s clothes with a trembling hand as she opened her mouth.
"H-help..."
"Prepare a bed, fast!"
"..."
"Princess? Princess?!"
"..."
...
It was all dark. Everywhere was so dark. She could smell the scent of wet soil, and the dirt stuck on her body when she was lying on the dirty ground.
Wait...! What?
It was the same place where she got kidnapped before. But why was she suddenly back here?
Wasn’t she in the military hospital a while ago? Then why was she suddenly here?
But where was Ying Yue?
She was all alone in the room!
She couldn’t remember being apart from Ying Yue that night at all. Was this probably a dream?
Then she heard the sound of footsteps approaching, and the sound of the door opening. Because her eyes were still bound by cloth, she couldn’t see anything. But she instinctively shrunk towards the side as if to avoid that approaching person.
Anyone approaching her at the moment was definitely not a good person.
"Ah... I did tell them not to treat you all so roughly." A man’s voice sounded in her ear. Before she could comprehend what he said, she felt a pair of hands lift her body up into a sitting position. She panicked and struggled to free herself from his hold.
"Stay." The man said in a low voice. She felt a chill on her back as she quickly picked up the trace of anger and fierceness in his order.
She blinked multiple times, attempting to clear her eyesight. But strangely, she still couldn’t see his face clearly despite being in front of her directly.
"The pampered spoilt princess of the Xiu’s reduced into this. I wonder if they will like this gift?"
"..."
She could only bite her lips as she felt afraid of this person. Even if she couldn’t see him properly, she could feel that piercing gaze and anger in his voice as if a slight mistake, he wouldn’t hesitate to kill her right then and there.
"But to think that you’re such a weakling. Look at those eyes."
His finger traced her eyes and slid down to the side of her cheek. She felt disgusted by his touch as she moved her face slightly to avoid his touch.
A chuckle escaped from his lips.
"Oh, was I wrong?"
He pulled his hand away as he continued talking to her.
"You must be thinking, why we kidnapped you." His walking stopped, turning in her direction. And in his low voice, he made her feel that disgust and rage in his tone.
"It’s a gift. An unforgettable gift to your family." He walked and stopped in front of her again.
"So blame yourself for being born in that kind of family."
Crouching before her, his face contorted into something menacing as he continued.
"A family full of monsters. Ruthless. People who think they’re heroes but they are just like us, some pathetic murderers who kill people saying it was for their country."
Xiu Mei flinched as she tried to distance herself from him.
Her mind in pure chaos. Everything felt so real. Wasn’t this just a dream?
She couldn’t remember meeting someone that night at all.
Maybe she was having some kind of dream delusions?
Even her movements and reactions. She couldn’t control herself at all. It was like she was on her own body but couldn’t take control of it. Every movement was like an instinct rooted within her.
It was like... like her old self.
"Mom? Are you awake?"
Her eyes turned towards the source of the voice. Was that...?
"Dad! Mom is—"
Then she heard another muffled voice. Everything around her slowly started disappearing but the man spoke again for the last time. She turned her head and stared straight at the man, this time, she could clearly see his eyes despite the darkness around them.
His blue eyes glinted in the dark, and with just his gaze, it was as if he was chanting a spell that was slowly taking her oxygen away.
She struggled to breathe as he muttered in low tones that she couldn’t understand. A smell diffused in the air as she slowly lost consciousness and everything went black.
