Chapter 579 - Twilight of the Gods

Many experts \'swam\' in the water, shocked.

Instead of swimming, they were actually flying or walking.

“It turns out that the water functions like this. It’s really a method that modern humans would want to increase the living land area, but it’s a method that we simply can’t learn.”

Modern humans live on the Earth\'s surface, which is actually quite small in comparison to the vast oceans and the skies above. Urban centers in particular were very crowded, with many governments trying to find ways to reduce the pressure of so many humans living densely. However, this “city" seemed to have already achieved this goal, and even done it better. Its inhabitants lived underwater, effectively utilizing the untapped space on Earth, providing a broader living area for their activities.

This civilization could be said to have already conquered the seas, thus greatly increasing the living space of this nation. Moreover, the resources under the sea were even richer than those on the land. One could only imagine how developed this nation really was.

The soldiers leading the expedition were speechless. Even if they were professionally trained, nothing could have ever prepared them for this kind of shock.

“Should we split up and search individually or all together?”

The major stopped and asked the crowd behind him.

The experts were just about to open their mouths and say to split up and search separately so that they could better gather information, but before the words could come out of their mouths, every single one of them just quickly shut up again.

Seeing that no one dared to speak, Gui Bin let out a dry smile and said, “Let’s go in together. Although that might make things less efficient, it is much safer.”

“Just look at those horror movies, didn’t the people in them die due to them dispersing and being taken out by monsters individually? So I think it’s better to move together!”

Gui Bin\'s words caused the crowd to nod their heads, they were all experts in their respective fields, smart people who would never set a death flag for themselves, and would never do anything stupid like those seen in movies..

The major obviously thought the same way. This group of experts could be the jewels of mankind. Losing even a single life would be a great loss.

He nodded his head and agreed, "...... Good, then we\'ll act together with us soldiers taking the lead at the front and you guys follow."

“Ah… You guys should also pay attention to your safety.”

“This is our mission.”

The major waved his hand, then asked, “Where are we going?”

“The center-most buildings!”

The many experts spoke in unison.

In the city, the central building stood the tallest and appeared to be the most significant. It was evident that investigating this structure was crucial, and was highly likely to be the city\'s municipal hall or some essential administrative center.

The major didn’t talk further and took the lead with his men to open the way. Everyone quickly walked towards the center of the city.

“This is Atlantis, it has to be! I strongly suspect that this is the real Atlantis, just like the hypothesis put forward by archaeologist Graham Hancock regarding the location of Atlantis at the South Pole!”

“You see, the buildings here are all concentric circles, and the center building resembles a ship, which must be a temple dedicated to Poseidon, the sea god. In the legends, this city was said to be on the sea\'s surface and was submerged by seawater due to a disaster. However, now it appears that it was not quite like that. The people of Atlantis invented this marvelous seawater technology, allowing them to expand their living area by utilizing the seawater. As a result, errors may have arisen in the later legends about Atlantis.”

The scholar on Atlantis began to gush out his knowledge. He began talking about the buildings that they had not yet seen, and when they passed by the buildings that were according to his explanation, they were all surprised as if this expert’s words were like a prophecy.

That meant that this place was really Atlantis!

Exquisite bas-reliefs and statues adorned the city, and occasionally, water flowed through the ventilation openings on the buildings, followed by the pleasant sound of bells. This bore similarities to Greek civilization yet presented a completely distinct cultural landscape—a mysterious race blessed by the sea god!

The city was extremely well preserved, but there were no living things.

“Did you capture it all?”

“Yes, it\'s all been filmed. This will be the greatest archaeological discovery of the twenty-first century!”

“The greatest archaeological discovery of the twenty-first century clearly proves the existence of God.”

“......”

The crowd was like going on an outing, chatting with each other, and laughing as they walked forward. Everyone took out their filming equipment and started frantically recording.

It didn\'t take long for them to arrive at the building in the very center, and then the crowd realized that this wasn\'t some city hall, but a temple.

“This temple should be dedicated to the god of the sea ...... But why does this building give me an ominous feeling.”

The expert on Atlantis spoke with some hesitation.

Beside him, that Norse mythology expert said in a deep voice, “...... Because half of the style of this building belongs to Northern Europe, and if you look closely at that relief, that\'s not the Gods of Olympus at all, but the Norse Gods!”

The Atlantis expert was taken aback and exclaimed, “I remember now! Denali, the father of Atlantis, once mentioned the Thirteen Tenets of Atlantis. One of them states that the gods from ancient Greek and Norse legends are the kings, queens, and heroes of Atlantis!! Perhaps what he meant is that Atlantis is a civilization that worships both the Olympian and Asgardian pantheons?!”

“Let\'s go in first and take a look, but before entering the temple everyone must be pious and not have any blasphemous thoughts,” Gui Bin reminded everyone.

Everyone nodded in agreement. In the past, during archaeological excavations, if they came across curses or temples, nobody would pay much attention. People would simply turn the temples upside down. However, in the current age where the existence of gods had been proven, who would dare to show disrespect towards them?

Regardless of whether one believed in God, Allah, Buddha, or the Three Purities and Taichi, at this time, they all bowed their heads and walked into the temple with a heart of piety and repentance.

The temple was extremely wide, such a huge temple should have many pillars inside, but this temple completely violated such structural norms. There was not even a single stone pillar inside.

The seawater outside rolled about, and through its azure hue, it cast a halo of light upon the temple. Along the walls surrounding the temple were numerous carvings and mysterious patterns.

“Those patterns are most likely symbols from the mysteries. Everyone, take pictures,” Gui Bin whispered.

As everyone filmed, they walked further inside the temple. They had no idea how large the temple really was. Nonetheless, the distance they walked within it seemed at odds with their perception of its size from the outside. It seemed as though the inside had expanded to become an immense space.

The eerie atmosphere spread all around, leaving people restless.

Abruptly, the major leading the way came to a halt, prompting the others to almost stumble into him. Amidst the mild complaints, everyone turned their gaze forward to behold what had caught the major’s attention. As they took in the sight before them, their expressions turned awestruck and speechless.

In the deepest part of the temple, there stood a colossal ice pillar that seemed to stretch endlessly upward. When people caught sight of what was embedded within the pillar, the Nordic mythology expert present let out a gasp of astonishment, his voice filled with murmured incantations:

“The Twilight of the Gods!”
