Chapter 254: - Hatching the Demon Egg
"Yes..." he replied simply.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"So, you two made up." She giggled. "So, old flames reignited? Oh, you\'re breaking my heart," she said, jokingly.
"No one said that." Leon answered and then fell silent for a moment before continuing. "She explained everything about her father and apologized. And..." he paused again. "I don\'t have a reason not to forgive her because... no hard feelings on my part. And she said she wants to be friends."
They went quiet for a bit. Then Leon started a new topic, discussing his experience in the dungeon, the encounter with the Demon, and about the Egg he got from the Trial Domain. However, he skipped the part about Princess Alora\'s promise to him.
"So, incubating an egg and hatching it to make a pet is common in Yunatea. Many people do it," she replied.
"Does one need to have a beast tamer class to do that?"
"No, it\'s not necessary, but building affinity with the pet takes time and special handling... and most people deal with normal monsters with standard wildness levels. But in your case, it\'s a Felhorn, and it was born from the death of a Named Demon." Freya answered slowly. "It is quite worrying," she said, giggling. "But still, a Legendary-grade Egg... That\'s amazing." "How do I incubate the Egg, Freya?"
"You just need to share your mana with the egg every day. It\'s easy. Just touch the egg, and there should be a notification to share mana. Have you tried it?"
Leon had held the Egg, but he didn\'t encounter anything like that. The egg just remained still even after he had stored it in his Inventory. "No, nothing like that."
Freya paused for a moment, seemingly recalling something. "A Demon Beast Egg is quite rare. I think only those who deal extensively with demons might know more about it."
"The Gluttony Champion?" Leon replied softly, remembering his encounter with the Shadow Wolves and their two Gluttony Champions, Marlene and Paul.
"Yes." Freya answered, then fell silent again. "I actually wanted to suggest you discuss this with Marlene."
"Are you sure, Freya?" Leon furrowed his brow, recalling that Flauros\'s appearance might be connected to them. "They brought the Demon to Dissidia Kingdom, I killed them and reaped the egg, and now you suggest I consult about the egg with her?"
"I don\'t have any other name in mind who might understand Demon Beasts. Marlene\'s Blessing is specifically related to Demon Beasts," she said, pausing for a moment. "Since she also promised to help you get your own Demon Beast, right? This might be an opportunity for you."
Leon nodded slightly, still unsure about trusting them. Since he didn\'t yet know their true intentions, and he clearly didn\'t like Paul\'s type.
But Marlene-so far-hadn\'t done anything too extreme, except for being part of the Shadow Wolves.
"If I had to guess," Freya continued, "maybe the Demon Egg can only be incubated in their world, the demon world, the Hell."
"The Hell?" Leon responded, furrowing his brow. "To incubate the egg, I need to go to the demon world? Isn\'t that just suicide?"
Freya giggled at his words. "I guess it\'s worth it if the final outcome is you having a Legendary-grade Demon Beast as a pet."
"If the outcome is that, it seems beneficial," Leon conceded. "But what if Flauros rises and fights back?" He clicked his tongue. "That guy is so elusive. If we hadn\'t fought in a confined space, it would have been much harder to defeat him."
Leon sighed, realizing he had yet another issue to deal with in the near future. For some reason, he was eager to hatch the Egg. While he worried that Flauros might rise again from it, the potential of having a new pet was enticing.
He pondered meeting Marlene, considering whether to conceal the fact about the Egg. But again, if Flauros\'s arrival in the Dissidia Kingdom was connected to the Shadow Wolves, they likely already suspected that Leon had the Egg.
A Legendary-grade Egg from a Named Demon-just hearing its name was enough to recognize its tremendous value. A Legendary-grade Egg, and from a Named Demon, made Leon potentially the first in the game to possess such an item.
The existence of Named Demons was scarcely known, with only small pieces of information available through various quests that many players had undertaken. That was why Maylock had enough information about Flauros\'s skills. However, it was clear that Maylock truly understood a lot; perhaps he did extensive research in a short time, but his analysis of how to defeat Flauros was spot-on.
"Marlene is on the opposite side," Freya continued. "But I\'m sure they have reasons to try pulling you to their side."
"And?"
"But I\'m confident you won\'t switch sides, right? Especially if it means opposing Princess Alora."
"No."
"And, even though they are opponents in the game, you don\'t need to worry, I guess. It\'s just
a rivalry in the power struggle for Dissidia Kingdom," Freya elaborated, pausing for a moment.
"I will try to talk to her," Leon decided.
"I knew it from the very first time," Freya said, responding with a knowing smile.
"What do you mean?"
"You\'d talk to her even more, especially that she\'s a sexy girl," she teased.
"I don\'t know. I\'m not sure if I\'m meeting her because I need information about the egg, or because she\'s indeed beautiful and sexy," Leon chuckled.
"You sure are becoming more of a playboy as time goes on, huh," Freya nudged Leon\'s side playfully.
The urge to be lazy and skip his martial arts training schedule really gnawed at Leon. But he forced himself, even that day. After chatting for a bit over coffee with Freya and discussing various aspects of the game, he immediately headed to the Martial Arts Center. He needed to stay consistent.
That day, he had his Kenjutsu training followed by sessions with other weapons. It was an intense two-hour training session, but he enjoyed it, given his game combat experiences with both knuckles and spears. He felt he gained more coherence and lessons by matching the way he used spears in real life with how he did it in the game.
After fulfilling all his real-world responsibilities, he went to pick up Lily from school. There, he also met Hazel, who was walking with Lily.
"Leon... when will you accompany me to sign up for Kenjutsu training?" Hazel asked with a
cheerful smile.
"You can do it yourself, right?" Lily answered in a flat tone. "You have a personal driver, and you know where the place is. My brother is so busy... don\'t hinder him."
Hazel giggled at Lily\'s words and winked at Leon. "You know, I have a better bond now with your brother. I know he wouldn\'t mind accompanying me to sign up."
Lily sighed at Hazel\'s response.
"Next time, my training schedule will be in two days. I\'ll take you and Lily to sign up as well,"
Leon replied casually.
"Why me? I don\'t want to learn sword fighting," Lily complained.
"You said you wanted to learn more about martial arts, right, Lily? You can pick anything you want there," Leon responded.
"Uhm..." Lily then put on a confused face. "Let me think more about it. I\'m so busy with my studying!" she said, pushing Leon into the car, saying goodbye to Hazel, and closing the door.
