Chapter 193 Torture

When Candice magically helped warm the body of Lei Zhen, he was in total disbelief.

\'Is everyone close to me all powerful except me?\' He complained silently.

The one who told Candice to rest was him, but the one who could easily change a person\'s temperature at the snap of a finger was Candice.

Then wouldn\'t that mean his concerns from the beginning were unnecessary?

Candice doesn\'t need to rest from the beginning since she was apparently very efficient in magic.

"What kind of spell did you use?" Lei Zhen couldn\'t help himself but asked what type of magic she had done to instantly warm his body up he was near freezing.

"It\'s a high elf spell that only we can decipher and chant. It consumes quite a bit of mana, but for the Master, it\'s necessary to put your health as the top priority." Candice responded nonchalantly. She didn\'t think that her spell was anything impressive, so there was no proud moment coming from her.

"I see," Lei Zhen twitched his brows slightly and nodded his head.

"Anyway, since I\'m not cold anymore, let\'s head to the basement level and see what Peter Heisen has to say for himself." He then said calmly.

"As you command, Master."

Sometime later, the two of them headed down the basement level, and multiple crewmen were standing by the hallway.

Their hands were holding different types of weapons, clearly having their guards up. The incident of Peter Heisen trying to escape was known and everyone was ready to apprehend them again if they attempted to escape.

"Was their escape almost successful?" Lei Zhen turned around and asked Candice.

Seeing the crewmen acting so seriously, he realized their escape plan might have actually succeeded.

Candice nodded her head.

"Sir Howard was occupied in apprehending Peter Heisen whereas the other three people attacked some of the crewmen. The crewman was slightly injured but it caused everyone else to be enraged, especially when they were the ones that rescued them from being drowned." She explained.

\'Huh, so there was actually more to the story. Seems like I\'ll need to ask Howard later for the exact details.\' Lei Zhen thought to himself.

Just when Lei Zhen was approaching the prison cell, he heard multiple loud banging sounds echoing from afar. The nearby crewmen shuddered slightly when they noticed Lei Zhen\'s arrival.

"What\'s the matter?" Lei Zhen asked when he realized their bodies tensed up, almost as if they were astonished and nervous about his arrival.

"Uhhh-"

Before one of the crewmen could even reply, another loud shrieking sound echoed again.

One shrieking sound was already suspicious enough, but hearing it again, Lei Zhen\'s expression turned solemn. And even though he was wearing a mask, the crewmen could feel the intense atmosphere emitting toward them.

"Confess what\'s going on," He straight up ordered.

He didn\'t even bother saying what he would do if they refused to confess since the crewmen value their lives and wouldn\'t dare to slight him.

"One of the crewmates that were friends with the injured member was furious, so he\'s now taking his anger out on them. Currently, they are being tortured by him." A crewman decided to confess and went on to his knees, seemingly afraid of the consequences.

After all, torturing a prisoner out of vengeance and without notifying the boss was equivalent to acting in their self-interest. It was akin to slapping Lei Zhen in the face and his authority.

"I see… and here I thought you guys are doing some other immoral stuff." Lei Zhen was calm and collected when he heard about the prisoners being tortured.

This was the reality and torturing a prisoner was common. So long as the media did not catch on to what happened inside the prison, then the guards could always abuse the prisoners.

Not to mention this current fantasy era in which slaves are even available for people to buy like it\'s some sort of item.

People might call him immoral or ruthless to allow torturing the prisoners, but Lei Zhen could care less about others\' opinions.

Peter Heisen could be considered a criminal for transporting weapons illegally. In addition to that, he had shown no remorse for his action and even tried to attempt an escape while injuring his employees.

If he was to still allow Peter Heisen to be treated nicely, then there must be something wrong with his brain.

"Since the crewman is acting on vengeance for his fellow coworker, then make sure he doesn\'t overdo it. I still want information about Peter Heisen and his heist." Lei Zhen warned them.

"Understood, Chancellor. We\'ll keep that in mind for the future." The crewmen all nodded their heads in unison.

"Good, now tell him that I\'ll give him 10 seconds to finish it up and clean the place nicely. I wish to interrogate them personally." Lei Zhen then ordered.

Letting his employees vent their frustration is a form of gaining respect and honor. Besides, it wasn\'t like they were committing heinous crimes such as violating a woman or killing someone indiscriminately.

pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ These were criminals that had a history, so Lei Zhen was more lenient with his employees torturing them to extract information.

Sometime later, the crewmen guided Lei Zhen to the prison cell once they finished cleaning the walls and floors. Though, there was still some stench of blood that Lei Zhen could smell.

Plus, the current appearance of Peter Heisen and the other three people was not looking good at all. In fact, they were in worse condition than when they were rescued aboard by them.

Shaking his head slightly, Lei Zhen felt no sympathy or pity for them. It was just disappointment and shame that they didn\'t know what was good for them and pushed their luck.

"Anyway, Peter Heisen, I\'m quite saddened and disheartened by the fact that you tried to escape right when we were met with danger. I originally planned to play nice with you, but you had angered my fellow employees severely. So tell me, what should I do with you and your comrades?" Lei Zhen asked calmly.
