Chapter 144 Slavery?
[The Arcane Power accumulated within the Livral Orb can be sold to the Arcane System for 43,531 Arcanium!]
Liam had used almost a fifth of the accumulated Arcane Power, but the result spoke volumes for itself. Liam\'s stats had increased drastically and the others were also doing much better than expected.
He was still releasing Arcane Power from within the Livral Orb to aid the others but the amount had decreased significantly. Liam could focus on training his body with complex circulation methods to slowly increase his Arcane Power stat.
That way, he could reach the [S]-rank and complete one of the requirements to awaken his Bloodline. His weakened state bothered him quite a bit, but there was nothing he could do about it. Using external means to tend to his weakened state might worsen it. Recovering naturally was the best way to solve his issues.
\'I wonder how strong they\'ll become.\'
Liam was quite interested in the young man and the women in front of him. They weren\'t weak but he didn\'t expect all of them to take the Kikal Tonic. In his opinion, their Willpower was not strong enough to survive consuming the tonic.
Well…that was before they witnessed the fragility of life and that even 1st Circle Monsters were already strong enough to obliterate an entire city without any problems.
Jennie\'s entire being was flooded with hatred, guilt, and the thought of revenge. That was enough to fuel her Willpower temporarily and allow her to survive consuming the Kikal Tonic.
However, the others… were still a little bit on the weaker side, and not actually fueled by anything.
\'As long as they survive, everything is fine, I guess…\'
He sighed deeply and shrugged his shoulders. His gaze turned over to the Arcane Shop, and he took a glance at his own Early Birds Shop as well.
Some exhibition slots in his shop were still used, and Liam filled up the remaining empty slots with other equipment. There were always some visitors in his shops, so most cheap-priced goods were bought in the blink of an eye.
The feeling of being able to make money in an instant was certainly good. However, Liam also felt the need to expand his shop a little. It would be great if he were to be able to get hold of a few Alchemists, Blacksmiths, Tailors, or other Artisans to sell certain goods as his main products.
That would not only pull in more customers, and increase his profit, but it would also mean that he could generate a somewhat stable source of income. Currently, the Early Birds Shop was more like a garbage bin to Liam. He wanted to change that because of the above reasons.
\'Should I enslave some Dwarves and Elves? This would increase my profit drastically. There are enough exiled and abandoned Elves and Dwarves as well. Picking them up and nourishing them could be worth it as long as their Soultrait is somewhat decent. Maybe we can even have disposable meatshields and scouts then…\'
Liam knew that slavery would never really be abolished in the Nine Realms. Thus, he thought that he could make use of it. As long as he treated his slaves well, they wouldn\'t ever think about betraying him, not that they were able to do something like that in the first place.
He wouldn\'t force them to do anything weird either. After all, he wasn\'t going to purchase slaves to pleasure him sexually but to earn a fortune.
\'If I offer them 5% of the profits and tell them that they can buy their freedom they would be motivated to produce the best products as well…That makes sense…\'
Somehow, Liam felt like he was telling himself to buy a bunch of slaves. Now that he had the money, he could afford a pretty decent Slave. Not many were as wealthy as he was, and even if someone were as wealthy as he was, nobody would really bother spending their whole fortune on slaves, not at the given moment.
However, that might actually be an opportunity worth exploiting. There was no demand, which meant that the overwhelming supply would have their price regulated accordingly.
"If I find a good one for less than 10,000 Arcanium, I should take the deal. Can I get a Master Blacksmith? I need a proper weapon if I want to fight the Lava Salamander, after all…"
Liam was talking to himself while scrolling through the Arcane Shop, and the other shops. There was one particular new shop, which had brought him to think that he should purchase a Slave. It was a Slavery Shop with various unique slaves on display. There were even chains, chokers and other things that had been altered with slavery magic.
It was almost as if the shop wanted to promote slavery all over Haltan and create a place full of slaves.
Liam was not really sure what to think about that because he had nearly become a slave in the past as well, but he understood that some idiots were stupid enough to fall into the traps created by loan sharks and renowned organizations that were known for being shady.
In fact, most Slaves either lost a bet, were unable to repay their debt, or they committed certain crimes that were worthy to be punished by death. However, death was too light of a sentence for some, and the unique powers of some were still useful. Thus, rather than executing the criminals, they were abused and exploited until they collapsed dead on the ground.
Of course, there were also a few poor souls that were forced into slavery without breaking any contracts or committing crimes, but the number of them was rather slim.
That was also why Liam didn\'t actually feel too bad when taking a precise look at each of the slaves. The Slave Shop didn\'t reveal much information. It only displayed the Race, Sex, Age, Height, Weight, and Circles.
There was not even detailed information about the stats, forget about the Soultrait. Liam was a little bit annoyed by that because he could pretty much tell that he was faced with a gamble the moment he purchase a slave without knowing anything about their prior profession.
With that in mind, Liam diverted his focus a little. He took a look at the stored Arcane Power in the Livral Orb and created a small plan for the future.
He willed the Arcane System to follow his plan and a bunch of notifications popped up in front of him.
[Transaction has been completed, 33,531 Arcanium have been added to the balance of the host!]
[Arcanium: 34,047.4]
[『Arcane Kunai』-Lesser Relict/Circleless D+ Rank-
Description: The Arcane Kunai is a weapon with many unique properties. It was forged in the maw of a dying Drake using the Essence of a Blackleara Swordfish. It can be bound to one Source of Arcane Power which can precisely control the Relict in a range of 25 meters as long as enough Arcane Power has been provided.
Remark: The Lesser Relict can be upgraded up to the 「1st Circle D Rank」using Arcanium.
Remark 2: The longer the distance to the Relict, the larger the Arcane Power consumption upon usage!]
[18,160 Arcanium have been deducted to increase the rank of the Lesser Relic 『Arcane Kunai』!]
[『Circleless D+ Rank』➔『Circleless A Rank』]
[Arcanium: 15,887.4]
[『Arcane Kunai』-Lesser Relict/Circleless A Rank-
Description: The Arcane Kunai is a weapon with many unique properties. It was forged in the maw of a dying Drake using the Essence of a Blackleara Swordfish. It can be bound to one Source of Arcane Power which can precisely control the Relict in a range of 200 meters as long as enough Arcane Power has been provided.
–Extraordinary Sharp
–Can be enchanted (1)
Remark: The Lesser Relict can be upgraded up to the 「1st Circle D Rank」using Arcanium.
Remark 2: The longer the distance to the Relict, the larger the Arcane Power consumption upon usage!]
The description of the Arcane Kunai changed quite a bit. It was not displayed as extraordinarily sharp and could be enchanted once. The former meant that it was sharper than its rank suggested, able to cut through the hide of 1st Circle Monsters. Meanwhile, the latter meant that it could be permanently enchanted as long as Liam used an Enchantment Stone.
He paid a huge fortune to increase the rank of the Arcane Kunai, but the final result was certainly worth it. Lesser Relics with unique enchantments were valued at the same price range as higher-ranked Relics, after all!
\'Should I go with a strong poison? I can also enchant a Bleeding effect...oh no, there is something even better! Anti Arcane Power enchantement! But that would be extremely expensive. Even Lesser Relics are dirt in comparison to such an enchantment…\'
Liam figured that there were many unique enchantments he could put on the Arcane Kunai. However, he had to take into consideration that he would soon create his first Arcane Circle. Considering that his stats were already that high, he would be able to create the strongest Arcane Circle upon completing his Bloodline Awakening.
The Arcane Kunai had to be upgraded once again, until the Lesser Relic would reach its limit at the 1st Circle D Rank. Purchasing an enchantment priced at over a hundred thousand Arcanium might actually not be worth it, though he needed to figure out how long he could use the Arcane Kunai with such an enchantment. It could still be useful upon creating his 2nd Circle.
\'I have enough time to figure out what I want. Let\'s look out for some criminal Master Blacksmith Slaves.\'
